While the sacred stone assimilates him for reasons yet unknown, Ardyn chooses to tell Somnus' descendant the truth of who and what he truly is. When the prince's three retainers follow shortly after, Ardyn cheerfully explains he has no idea where the Crystal's taken their monarch, to which two of them immediately kill him. Obviously, he gets right back up and bids them a cheerful farewell.

When all is said and done, Ardyn mocking and shouting frustration at his brother's descendant, he falls defeated...and finds himself just a little relieved it can finally end.
